Start with the daily moments

Families do not need a perfect label before asking for help. Begin with what is happening: missed meals, difficulty with bathing, wandering concerns, medication reminders, nighttime wakefulness, or the caregiver needing a reliable break.

Support can be layered

Some families begin with companionship or a few respite hours. Others need personal-care assistance, consistent routines, or overnight coverage. A thoughtful provider conversation can clarify what is realistic for the home and schedule.

Safety comes first.Hearthline does not diagnose or assess clinical risk. If there is an immediate safety or medical concern, contact the appropriate emergency or clinical resource.

Questions to bring to an agency

Ask about dementia experience, caregiver continuity, communication with the family, training, after-hours support, and what happens if the plan needs to change.
