Separate medical instructions from daily support
The clinical team should explain medical care, medications, and follow-up. Home-care support is different: meals, transportation, companionship, personal routines, mobility assistance within the provider’s scope, and caregiver relief.
Questions to organize before coming home
- Who will be present during the first few days?
- Which daily tasks are difficult right now?
- Will transportation or meal support be needed?
- What hours are hardest for the family?
- Who should receive updates if plans change?
Choose the right kind of provider
Be clear about whether you need nonmedical private-duty support or a clinical service ordered by a licensed professional. Those are different service categories and should not be treated as interchangeable.
